Get On The Plane

Prayer said. Neck, shoulder and leg stretches done. A rolled sweater in the small of my back. Now I am dozing and the plane is about to takeoff. I am heading back home after an extended stay with family.  I changed my return date several times.  There was so much going on and I did not want to miss anything. I might have stayed a few more days had it not been for an early morning call from the hubby reminding me to “get on the plane.” We tried to get Darrel to join us in Georgia but our efforts did not work.

The extra time I stayed was well worth it.  Gayl and I were no longer needed for grandmom duties so we relaxed. We walked around her neighborhood, ate tasty treats and took in the sights.  We also attended her granddaughter, Jai’s, basketball game.  I went on an outing with the Ferguson grandbabies to the pool and enjoyed a delicious mushroom spicy bean burger at Horatio’s restaurant. I had long talks with daughter-in-law, Kahlilah.  I watched videos from her cruise as she told me all about her exciting time. We were all proud of my granddaughter, Aniyah, for winning the classroom spelling bee.  I spent precious time with my baby boy, Ebon.  I was hoping to stay long enough to see Evan perform in his high school jazz band.  With you-know-who missing me at home, I knew that would have to be a different trip.

Before leaving Georgia, I experienced another one of my ‘what in the world’ moments.  We were coming home one night and saw Gayl’s neighbor standing outside in her housecoat holding a flash light.  She was distressed because her mother duck and her pig were both missing from her yard. The duck’s babies and her pig’s best friend, who is another pig, were still in the yard.  This made no sense to her. A little later she spotted the duck across the street. Her pig was still missing.  The next morning around 4:30am, I was up looking out the window. I was on look-out in case the pig happened to be walking by.  I am not sure what I would have done had I seen him but the neighbor pulled on my heartstrings and I wanted to see her reunited with her pig named Pork.  Yup, it was time for me to get back on the plane.

There’s no place like home,

Amanda 😎

4 days later Pork was found. He was around the corner in a chicken coop!!
